So… what's going on? (kbin.social)
Since the beginning of the year, there's been a bit of a pattern over on @kbinDevlog:...
Lemmy once again isn't federating properly? (fedia.io)
I get the threads, but there's no votes, no replies. Nothing. None of my comments show up anywhere if I look at the original instances....
url link blocking. What happened to it. (kbin.social)
So when someone submitted a url at least at one point it would show up on the right and you could block it. So if someone posted a newsweek link you could block any link postings from like newsweek.com or maybe reddit.com or google.com. Lately though I have not been able to. It seemed to disapear at some point. I have not seen...
Why don't kbin comments show up on lemmy servers? (kbin.social)
I can see posts with my other user name but none of the replies.
Dragging out my old account for this: looking for Kbin instance with active admin that is running Kbin and not Mbin (kbin.social)
I started on kbin.social with this account, then moved out to kbin.cafe to try to avoid overloading the flagship instance and help out with decentralization. Then the admin went inactive, so I fled to kbin.run. This is active and I am satisfied, but it is also running Mbin, a fork of Kbin. I'd like to try regular Kbin again, but...
Did I see a note that blocked users would no longer show up in the random threads sidebar? (kbin.social)
I currently have to stare at what is presumably @RichardvanDaalen being anally penetrated on the main page, no matter that I have blocked him, and no matter that I have hit refresh several times....
Seeing lots of posts from centralized instances (e.g. lemmy.world) (fedia.io)
I have ensured that I am not subscribed to any mags on centralized instances. E.g....
✨ What is your favorite thing about kbin? ✨ (kbin.social)
Here are mine! A handful of things come to mind right away, but there are plenty more:...
What does the "Favorites" feed do? (kbin.social)
I've been using Kbin for a few months now and I didn’t really feel the need to set my #feed to anything besides "Subscribed". I can guess from their names what the "All" and "Moderated" feed are but I have no idea what the #favorites feed does. I've seen that the recently added #collections also use the word "favorite" when...
Released idkbin 1.3.0! — A few small visual improvements for Kbin (userstyles.world)
In the past week or two, I've been making a lot of updates to my Kbin userstyle, idkbin, to account for all the new features Kbin has been getting. This weekend, I had a bunch more motivation to work on it, so I decided to make a bunch of additions to the userstyle and make the next version 1.3.0 (as opposed to 1.2.7, which...
Thinking on creating a guide on leaving Twitter etc. for creators, etc., some tips on what it should include? (kbin.social)
A lot of artists, etc. are reluctant to leave corporate social media like Twitter, due to fears over the Fediverse (usually spread by other people, that think Fediverse = Gab + some cryprobros + maybe Pawoo), or not willing to understand it....
Could there be a "Filter" button for magazines? (kbin.social)
I know there's block, but "block" currently blacklists the entire magazine. If I click on it, it wipes all the threads on /all/, prevents me from looking at threads on the magazine landing page and all comments in the threads should I venture in. A "filter" would be a soft block that just clears it from my feed on the main page....
David Tennant's 14th Doctor Will Make His TV Debut This Week (gizmodo.com)
Can't see many posts on kbinmeta even though the posters are not in my block list (including posts by Ernest). (kbin.social)
Here's logged in vs private tab: https://i.imgur.com/8SlEMmJ.png...
Is kbin dead in the water? (kbin.social)
Still no API to enable official apps and no moderation tools. It really feels like it's lagging behind Lemmy at this point. Lemmy's growth has significantly outpaced kbin and it feels like it's going to just die a slow death now....
“Far Apart On Key Issues”: SAG-AFTRA Sets Halloween Talks With Studios – Update (deadline.com)
error 500 when visiting the “we’re back” thread and also notifications (fedia.io)
I cannot view the “we’re back” thread -- just get the error 500....
Unnatural evolutionary processes of SARS-CoV-2 variants and possibility of deliberate natural selection (zenodo.org)
As a result, we concluded that the formation of a part of Omicron isolates BA.1, BA.1.1, and BA.2 was not the product of genome evolution, as is commonly observed in nature, such as the accumulation of mutations and homologous recombinations. Furthermore, the study of 35 recombinant isolates of Omicron variants BA.1 and BA.2...
A sixth basic taste may join sweet, salty, sour, bitter and umami on the tongue (dornsife.usc.edu)
Japanese scientist Kikunae Ikeda first proposed umami as a basic taste — in addition to sweet, sour, salty and bitter — in the early 1900s. About eight decades later, the scientific community officially agreed with him....
Code blocks from Lemmy get mangled here on Kbin (kbin.social)

US Senator Menendez charged with bribery, steps down from Senate committee role (www.reuters.com)
NEW YORK/WASHINGTON, Sept 22 (Reuters) - U.S. prosecutors on Friday charged powerful Senator Bob Menendez and his wife with taking bribes from three New Jersey businessmen, which could complicate Democrats' efforts to keep their slim majority in the U.S. Senate in next year's elections....
From cage-free chicks to puppy mills and Avian flu: Republicans are trying to roll back animal protections in the U.S. (www.theguardian.com)
The Republican-led Ending Agricultural Trade Suppression, or Eats, Act aims to end the authority of states and localities to set animal welfare and food safety standards. If passed, it could also jeopardize more than 1,000 state and local health and safety laws that set food-quality requirements and stop the spread of invasive...
Account creation issue (lemmy.world)
When trying to register, I fill out a username, email, and password (copy/pasted from a password manager, so no chance of mistyping). I complete the captcha, check the consent box, click register, and... nothing. Page refreshes, but there's no errors displayed or anything. I've tried resetting my password, but I never get an...
