soweli-mute, to kbinMeta yeah kbin is definitely more suited to being used on desktop lol.
183231bcb, to random What's the status of federation between Lemmy/KBin and Misskey/Sharkey/Firefish/Iceshrimp? I just tried loading several Lemmy and Kbin posts in Sharkey and it doesn't work. I remember having the same issue with Firefish, and I vaguely recall hearing awhile back it was something related to authorized fetch. Have their been any recent developments on that front? #FediQuestions #FediverseQuestions #Threadiverse #Lemmy #KBin #Misskey #Sharkey #Firefish #Iceshrimp
soweli-mute, to kbinMeta kbin is lowkey kinda complicated lol
there's so many different kinds of posts, microblogging, threads, etc.
lowkey a bit overwhelming.
Teppic, @soweli There is certainly some truth to that, but
- it gets easeir farily quickly; and
- it's worth the effort! Other platforms don't give you the same power and breadth of access across the fediverse.
You'll find you get more interaction from within kbin (and also from Lemmy) if you use 'Threads' rather than 'Posts' (like this). Posts sit in the Microblog and are more aligned to Mastodon way of working - they are harder to see unless people already follow you.
bjoern, to random "We get exponential growth based on having one protocol, not a half dozen. [..] standards aren’t about competition. They’re about cooperation".
Great article by @evanprodromou . I completely agree, #ActivityPub has to win if we want to have a great social web. Don't get seduced by the shiny marketing of the next VC driven social network (protocol).

factolvictor, to quarks Does anyone here already bought Patrick Stewart's memoir? Any thoughts? #startrek #allstartrek @quarks @startrek #PatrickStewart

wedistribute, to random What's your favorite #Fediverse client of choice, and why? It can be web, desktop, or mobile. We're just at a point where there's so many different options available!
symfonystation, @wedistribute Ivory. I use it for Friendica, Mastdon, and PixelFed.
jcrm, to kbinMeta Can we PLEASE make the top bar be customizable already? Or at least filter NSFW by default? It's a really bad look whenever I open this and "jailbait" is at the top of my screen almost every time.
Arotrios, @jcrm Lol - I figured out how to do this accidentally. You may have noticed that Jailbait doesn't appear in the top bar anymore.
It's because I posted this to it (sfw and 18+ by a long shot, but you'll still want eyebleach). Apparently that top bar of communities prioritizes those that have no posts. Take a look - you'll see every suggested community is empty. Posting to one removes it from the selection algorithm.
Pinging @ernest as it looks like the sorting on that top bar algorithm is achieving the opposite of its intended purpose.
joewood, to random "Capitalism is Dead - Long Live Technofeudalism" - there's a lot think about in this:
https://unherd.com/2023/09/capitalism-is-dead-long-live-technofeudalism/Is the Fediverse the start of taking back ownership of the platform? Do we need an ActivityPub for ecommerce, streaming, news articles? What else?
