lackattack, to random #mastowatch is a pretty sweet little app that provides all sorts of info on various fediverse instances/servers. One of the more interesting pieces of data it collects is the list of blocked servers for a particular instance. Cool to see the perp lists haha
J12t, to meta Hey @TechCrunch, re your piece on #activitypub and #threads, my notes from last week’s meeting at #meta answer some of the questions in your article.

akuchling, to random For people who won't want to see posts from Threads, please know that you can block an entire domain from your feeds. Docs for doing so:
mike, to random The network effect for #ActivityPub is gaining some serious momentum right now. As more services adopt the protocol, more people, more communities and more content are added to the network making it increasingly more valuable for everyone. This will only accelerate in the coming months as Threads, Wordpress, Tumblr, Flipboard and others federate.
We're still in early innings but there's no way to put this genie back in the bottle. The open social Web / the #Fediverse is going to be huge.

andresmh, to random We're organizing a small in-person workshop about federated/decentralized social media at Princeton.

We're interested in bringing folks who develop fediverse tech or admins that manage active Mastodon instances. We have some travel funding.
Ping me if interested, and please boost 🚀 to reach more people.

funkwhale, to random #funkwhale 1.4.0 is on the way! We have some translations that are nearly complete, but we need some help getting them over the finish line.
If you have the time and are a speaker of Occitan, Dutch, Chinese (Simplified), Italian, Polish, Basque, Japanese, or Portuguese (Brazil), we'd really appreciate your help getting our translation strings to 100%
pfefferle, to random what do we have to do to make the #ActivityPub plugin attractive to more #WordPress users? We are currently at 4000+ active users on WordPress.org + the WordPress.com users.
jwr1, (edited ) to kbinMeta @ernest, I just have a quick question. Looking at the kbin oauth documentation on codeberg and swagger, I got the impression that an authorization client needs to be registered on a server before a user can start using the API. This would be fine if kbin weren't federated, but what if a user wants to sign in to a different instance that doesn't have the oauth client I set up? Basically, I'm asking if there's a way to use the API without setting up the oauth client, but still be able to login to an account. Thanks

hrefna, to random I sort of want:
- To/cc to control where the message gets sent.
- Audience to control who can see the message.
- bto, bcc to not exist or be broadly disabled in AP (edit, to clarify: I want to and cc to take the meaning of bto and bcc in general; the functionality is useful, but in a social network it should be the default behavior and we have other mechanisms to tag people in)
david_megginson, to random Let's not compete with BlueSky.
If people who want to be on BlueSky end up on BlueSky, and people who want to be in the fediverse end up in the fediverse, we'll all be happier.
Tech details aside, I understand that the culture of BlueSky is "Twitter without Elon." I came to the fediverse looking for the same thing, but I've stayed because our culture isn't remotely like Twitter before Elon, either.
