Damaskox, to kbinMeta What are badges?
I see a mention of them in magazine options.
Damaskox, to kbinMeta I notice myself constantly thinking about the (more silent) magazines I have subscribed to and how they are faring.
I know that I find the magazines I have subscribed to through my profile and the subscriptions. But for reasons I cannot materialize to words that feels like a convoluted way to approach these magazines.
I'm not so sure what I'm trying to say - I guess I just hope there was a view equivalent to https://kbin.social/magazines that showed only the ones I have subscribed to (maybe there could be an option, a box you could tick?) and maybe showing the last time someone created any kind of activity within a magazine?
Damaskox, to kbinMeta How does one embed a GIF so it shows in a comment without clicking any links?
Test: https://tenor.com/fi/view/this-is-just-sad-sad-angry-mock-horror-gif-11156785
Test 2: <div class="tenor-gif-embed" data-postid="11156785" data-share-method="host" data-aspect-ratio="1.77515" data-width="100%"><a href="https://tenor.com/view/this-is-just-sad-sad-angry-mock-horror-gif-11156785">This Is Just Sad Angry GIF</a>from <a href="https://tenor.com/search/this+is+just+sad-gifs">This Is Just Sad GIFs</a></div> <script type="text/javascript" async src="https://tenor.com/embed.js"></script>
Test 3: I tried to add it as a picture as a file from the computer but editing this comment doesn't add it.
Fiivemacs, I see no difference tbh, but you do you. I wish the feature was/is there for people to use, but I enjoy not seeing gifs and having them auto load and hope for counter options.
Damaskox, @Fiivemacs Yeah well, I suppose some folks rather not see emojis neither.
Though they take less space in your eyes than GIFs, they may not always deliver the same feeling what the sender intends 🙂
zeab, to random Woah. #gitlab really is planning to federate with #ActivityPub. 🤯
vkc, to fediverse My name is Veronica and I don't know how to use kbin. :P
Has anyone written up an explainer for kbin for folks who never really understood Reddit?
Also, can I comment on a PeerTube video from here? I tried it on one of mine and it didn't seem to work.
Anyway, I'm new. Hi!
vkc, @ernest Thank you! I take it you work on this site, if so thank you and I'm sorry for being such a newb.
ernest, @vkc Don't worry. In the near future, we'll be working on integrating with, among others, Peertube. For now, you can search for people from Peertube and follow their accounts, for example, "warroza@tube.pol.social." At some point, their content will start appearing in your feed ;) Enjoy.
Damaskox, to kbinMeta There was a magazine where you could post about new magazines.
I don't remember its name to search for it.
vlrny, to random Ok hive mind!
I am looking for sources for watching science documentaries (NOVA, Nature, National Geographic, BBC Earth... And other awesome stuff I probably don't even know about) that isn't via YouTube. I am fed up with their unrelenting greed.
So need suggestions on doc-heavy streaming services, and/or a #peerTube buddy to help me find stuff if it's there, and/or advice on an applebox app that filters out these unrelenting intrusive ads on YouTube. 😤
LilPecan, @vlrny A $60 per year donation will grant you access to PBS Passport. Plenty of documentaries and more, plus it's supporting a good cause.
Damaskox, to kbinMeta How do I add an image to a magazine so it's visible without clicking (image) links?
Didn't find info about it when searching.
jared, Add a ! Before the link brackets
Damaskox, @jared I actually noticed that there was a graphical tab in the magazine settings where the image was added.
It was just in a different place than what I thought.
Arataka, to random Is https://firefish.social usually so slow? Was looking to see how things changed since I last heard about it and man that instance is SUPER slow to load everything, is this an instance issue or a firefish issue?
maegul, @Arataka at the moment it seems to be a dead instance. Too many problems too often with an admin distracted by other things now and not actively maintaining the instance.
Unless there’s contrary information and I’m out of the loop I’d say stay away and consider firefish to be a bit more hype than it’s worth. Other Misskey forks are out there.
Arataka, @maegul Ah, yeah I was looking to mess around with some other federated software, I might see how Sharkey is seeing that is also uses the Mastodon API which is a must if you want to use any good mobile apps lol.
sickmatter, to fedia ActivityPub could be a little more portable through the use of OIDC. You could even separate identities from instances!
ALostInquirer, Thanks, I’ll have to read up on that!
sickmatter, @ALostInquirer
Let me know if it ends up making any sense. I use this (alongside a few other ways of authenticating), and I still find the details a bit hard to follow. Configuring it in an application is the easy part; figuring out how it all interacts with your own system can get complicated if you need more info than what’s provided in the user info endpoint (honestly more of an enterprise problem than something we deal with outside of the office)
kubikpixel, to random What is the ideal number of #hashtag's in #Fediverse for you? I know that I have relatively #many in my posts 🗨️😐
avelino, to random "life" in the #fediverse became more fun after I discovered #lemmy, being able to follow and comment on topics published "there"
thegiddystitcher, Good effort!
Couple things: The first line of your toot becomes the Lemmy post title so keep it short and don’t add any tags (they format weirdly). Also if you tag multiple communities it’ll only post to the first.
Hi from Lemmy 👋
avelino, @thegiddystitcher great points, I didn't know about them
thank you
