The old is more important than limited funds. I remember reading an interview from JMS where he mentioned B5 was about $1 million an episode. Which after accounting for inflation is about $2 million an episode in today’s money. The BSG remake was at about $1 million per episode.
I can tell you in 1995 the CGI on B5 was pretty great.
For sure it looks fake as can be, but compared to video games (of the time) it was amazing.Look at some screenshots of MechWarrior 2 or Descent and compare to B5.
At the time B5 had some of the better CGI, it’s just that amazing CGI in 1993 was awful.
The thing is there were great physical models in other shows. It was just Straczynski’s determination to go completely digital that was driving it.
DS9 was made with models because Paramount understood the technology wasn’t there yet. I just wish they’d kept high definition analogue film rather than video.
If I have questions about general usage/ support of this website (startrek.website), what’s the correct community?
This one right here - Quark’s.
If I am not sure of a rule for the website, where should I ask
Same as above, if it’s a general question about rules and not an appeal of a specific mod action.
If I am not sure of a rule for a specific community, where should I ask?
We’re still deciding on the best solution to contact an entire mod team, but for now, reaching out to a community moderator directly is probably the way to go.
Where should I ask to find a community on a specific topic?
Thank you for your interest in visiting Quark’s Bar, Grill, Gaming House and Holosuite Arcade, LLC! Unfortunately, we are not able to offer medical advice to our patrons. Also, no refunds on reservation fees.

Right where you put it was the right call! 4. Nice! I guessed right for a change! taps the “Quark’s” sign5. With all the other answers, that that coming! We’re still deciding on the best solution to contact an entire mod team, but for now, reaching out to a community moderator directly is probably the way to go. 6. How do you do that? I, personally, would think that it would be that specific community, but seeing as it always seems to be “Quarks”… wouldn’t be surprised not an appeal of a specific mod action. 7. How do I do that, as it looks like it’s the only guaranteed exception (the one above with a community mod is probably an exception, but not guarenteed!

You can find the moderators for each community in that community’s sidebar - just head to their profile and message them. This would be the process for both questions about community-specific rules, and appeals of moderator actions.
The downside to this solution is that the message is only guaranteed to be seen by the moderator you messaged, rather than the entire mod team, but we can and do communicate with each other as needed.

Edit: It seems to work - the delta should be visible in the upper-left quadrant of the canvas. You’ll just have to open the Settings and turn down the template opacity to see the actual canvas underneath.
Edit 2: At this point, you can probably toggle the template off entirely.
Voyager developer @aeharding is unbelievable. What an engineer. Dat UX 🤤 (no shade but will say) srsly hard to use the default interface from web when you’ve experienced e.g. Voyager iOS.
I just finished watching Space Babies - I have to say, I missed this. It’s been a long time since Doctor Who was fun - I love all Doctor Who, even the bad ones (especially the bad ones) but my heart is really with the bizarre, campy, man-in-a-rubber-suit style episodes like this one. If anyone was worried this was going to get Disney-fied, this is RTD at the most RTD. I might as well have been watching the Ninth Doctor take Rose to the End of the World. Ncuti is the Doctor the very instant he steps on screen, and the Doctor/Ruby chemistry is absolutely perfect. I don’t love her being a mystery box but as long as the explanation is suitably weird I’ll go with it.
A bit of a new experience for me in that this time I got to watch it with my daughter — she’s nine and a huge Trek fan. She liked Church on Ruby Road and we watched a bit of other doctors, but I wasn’t sure she’d take to this, but she was just beaming the whole time. Bit of a new experience for me because other than some Tom Baker episodes on old VHS tapes, I was an adult by the time I came to DW. It’s fun to see it through the eyes of a child.
Also, uh, did the Doctor just suggest that the world of Star Trek is real in his universe?
My least favourite type of RTD episode is the Goofy RTD Episode, and this was definitely that. I doubt it will end up ranking too highly on my list by the end of the season.
That said, I always appreciate social commentary that’s about as subtle as a sledgehammer, and the episode delivered on that. And Ncuti Gatwa’s physical presence is something special - I don’t think we’ve seen that kind of physicality since Matt Smith.

This is obviously a sign that setting up this discussion thread was the right decision.
Nice! I have been waiting for this, eagerly anticipating when I can block the entire hexbear instance (I made the mistake of commenting in one of their magazines once and despite how many days ago that was the sheer flood and content of the responses continues to be… let’s just say enlightening in terms of how they choose to exist). So this is fantastic! :-P
Yes that is the reason I wanted to comment here, to help spread awareness of this fantastic feature. Go into your Settings (not Profile), Blocks, on the left scroll waaaaay down, and you can block an entire instance. I was getting more than ten replies every day to a week-old comment, but since I blocked it today I have yet to see anything hex, anywhere. Silence is a beautiful thing:-).
I’ve been a huge FAM fan from the beginning primarily for the show’s potential.
Seasons 2 and 3 featured some interpersonal plot twists and astonishingly ridiculous plot choices (avoiding spoilers) that made the show nearly insufferable.
Season 4 seems to have gotten things back on track for the most part. There is still a hint of ridiculousness going on, but I’m mostly satisfied.
At the same time, I wish the show was allowed to jettison some of the pulpy elements and have a bit more auteur flare. But it’s so rare to actually see a television show that’s this ambitious actually make it a few seasons that I hesitate to ask for more.
Oof. I don’t have good news for you on the Season 3 front.
spoilerDanny
remains a central figure throughout the season and is permitted to do more-different hair-brained things as well, which is both annoying to suffer though and awkward to fast-forward over without also missing exposition. There’s still a lot of genuinely interest stuff that happens in season 3 and somehow made the experience worth it, but wow, not by much. I was REALLY happy to see that S4 got itself right-sided again.
So we are heading toward three streaming channels, basically cbs, nbc, abc, but instead of OTA and free with ads, it will be 20/month each with ads. All the utter crap on cable nobody wanted to watch, (100 channels with nothing on) will instead be ready to stream on demand. Well done shitty end stage capitalism, well done.
