DickFiasco, in Reddit has a new AI training deal to sell user content

Lol, the AI is just going to emit nonsense like “holy hell”, “thanks for the gold, kind stranger”, “I too choose this guy’s wife”

cuchi, in Reddit has a new AI training deal to sell user content

I HAVE AN IDEA! What about… put the subreddits on private again? /s

SilverShark,

Questin is, is data of private subs still sold? Likely it is.

cuchi,

If Reddit want it, yes. That’s why that protest was one of the worst attempts of making noise on internet what I ever seen.

As if Paramount+ wasn’t shitty enough.

Yet another service that I will never pay for. I’ll just keep sailing thank you very much.

Telodzrum, in Come join a Star Trek community free of mods on a power trip where you CAN share ALL opinions

I swear there are more of these popping up than there are poorly managed Klingon houses.

rdyoung,

I was just thinking that this is not how you get people to join, this is how you get people to actively avoid your community.

buckykat, in How I watch star trek

I’m watching star trek on live.hexbear.net right now

Daxtron2, in A former Gizmodo writer changed his name to ‘Slackbot’ and stayed undetected for months

Hilariously bad

Good for them! I have said this before, but I would be more than happy to have a chat about providing hosting to M-A or at least offering them wiki.startrek.website (or whatever) assuming it’s sustainable of course.

askryan,

I hope they’re open to it. Man what I wouldn’t give to use Memory Alpha without all the annoying Fandom garbage.

factolvictor,

@askryan @Admin Fandom excessive ad policy is really annoying.

I’m glad to see this. When I was playing Baldur’s Gate 3, it took me a while to discover bg3.wiki rather than the previous dominant one, which was fextralife. I played the game quite early, so there were a lot of information gaps, and having somewhere that wasn’t an ad filled nightmare to consult motivated me to help fill some of those gaps, because it felt like a community space more than a product.

Ashen44,

Indie Wiki Buddy!

This extension auto redirects from fandom and fextralife to the equivalent indie Wiki! Never visit a horrid corporate wiki ever again! (unless you’re a monster hunter fan like me ;_;)

Not sure what you mean by this actually. . .

old.startrek.website

It’s startrek.website but looks like the “old Reddit” UI

Also, it’s working again.

I didn’t know it existed. I like it.

Great!

SpaceScotsman, in Is anyone using old.startrek.website?

I was using it, but because it periodically did load fine I assumed I was just having network trouble. Thanks for fixing!

Squibbles, in A new study suggests that the amount of oxygen on Europa is on the lower end of previous estimates. The moon may be uninhabitable.

There seems to be an error in the thumbnail. That’s the back of Darth vaders head.

SevenOfWine,

Fediverse bug. I see the correct thumbnail, but have seen the wrong thumbnail on other posts when using a kbin account.

Jaccident,

I believe this was a joke, about how this moon looks like a shaved scrotum that’s been savaged by a ferret.

FishLake, in A new study suggests that the amount of oxygen on Europa is on the lower end of previous estimates. The moon may be uninhabitable.

Typo in title. ‘Inhabitable’ means it’s suitable for life, which is not what the study says. You meant to say ‘uninhabitable’.

SevenOfWine,

Article:

“It’s on the lower end of what we would expect,” said Jamey Szalay, a plasma physicist at Princeton University who led the study. But “it’s not totally prohibitive” for habitability, he added. … “We don’t really know how much oxygen you need to make life,” she said. “So the fact that it’s lower than some earlier, wishful-thinking estimates is not such a problem.”

Corgana,

Who knew inflammable meant flammable! (thanks, I fixed the title)
