I don't mind waiting for things to be fixed what with life interfering with things, but I can't find any activity from Ernest lately. He hasn't been, like... hit by a bus or anything terrible like that, has he?
I bet a lot of folks have just quietly given up or moved to lemmy or mbin because they’ve gotten frustrated with all the issues.
I guess it's not quiet once I post this, but I submitted the account deletion request a couple weeks back and spent some time setting my feedly back up after 1 too many spam posts. I'm already getting my scrolling fix from rss feeds again, and this is the first time I've been on kbin in a week.
The issues that started occurring on Sunday turned out to be more serious than anticipated, extending beyond the application code. We are still working on resolving them to ensure the proper functioning of the website, but we need some more time. Apologies for any inconvenience.
Maybe I'm missing something, but why not just log out, move on, and let ernest get to it when he gets to it? Dude has a massive to-do list with this project, and a non-impactful account deletion for a single ex-user is, rightfully, not terribly high of a priority.
If my account is deleted, it’s done and over with.
And if you log out and walk away, it's done and over with. I'm not seeing much of a case for it being all that different. You're just choosing to stay any whine rather than leaving the account be.
Plus, I want to delete my posts.
Realistically, the nature of federation makes that practically impossible anyway. Even if deleted from kbin, your shitty posts have already been copied to all the federated instances.
Anyway, why do you care so much? Practically speaking, why does it matter to you personally whether my account is is deleted or whether I just stop posting but keep my account active? Why is it so important to you that I not be allowed to delete my account?
Because your pointless bitching shows up in my feed. To be clear, I don't give a shit if your account gets created or not. But if you logged out and walked away, kbin would be a bit better for it. Hence, I'm encouraging you to do that.
Why do I have to be on trial for wanting to delete my account?
You're not on trial; you're being told how to effectively solve this situation yourself. You're the one that posted this, knowing the vast majority of people who saw the post don't have any more ability to delete the account than you do.
you all won’t even let me leave!
That you choose to get defensive and keep using the account is a choice you're making, not something anyone's forcing upon you.
Consider it done, but I wanted to make an attempt to understand your reasoning first in case I was missing a compelling reason the deletion was urgent/useful. Glad to know I wasn't.
@Ernest has pushed an update which allows users to request ownership/moderation of abandoned magazines. Ghost/abandoned magazines were fairly prevalent after the initial wave of hype due to users either squatting magazine names or becoming inactive for other reasons. Now is your chance to get involved, if you were waiting to do...
Has showed up at the top of my screen among the random mags disproportionately over the past several months too. It's what keeps me off kbin when I'm in the office around people.
Is Ernest still here? (kbin.social)
