Cripple. History Major. Vaguely left-wing.

Yeah, I can't find it in abandoned mags, else I would have just taken it and cleaned it up.

PugJesus,
@PugJesus@kbin.social avatar

I got a few almost immediately after requesting them, though I did it just after the feature was released.

PugJesus,
@PugJesus@kbin.social avatar

Yeah, something to do with voting from Kbin causing a loop and a huge amount of data to pass back and forth. Hope Ernest fixes it soon.

PugJesus,
@PugJesus@kbin.social avatar

Still having limited federation issues, but I can browse and such.

PugJesus,
@PugJesus@kbin.social avatar

Upvotes and comments are both only rarely federating for me.

PugJesus,
@PugJesus@kbin.social avatar

Same, just got a hundred or so notifications. Hopefully this'll keep!

PugJesus,
@PugJesus@kbin.social avatar

Oh, thank God! No rush on anything, I was just worried! I hope your recovery and the med side effects smooth out!

... 'going after'?

Well, I do tend to be aggressive when roused, so I understand that I can rub people the wrong way.

What's the quickest way to find a magazine/community you've subscribed to? (kbin.social)

I've been using kbin since the Reddit exodus and I still don't really know the path to finding my way into a specific community/magazine I've subscribed to. I usually search for the name using the search function, then hope I find a thread from there in the results where I can just click directly into it. Surely there must be a...

In your profile, there's a 'subscribed' list. It's not super convenient, but easier than searching.

[UPDATE] Issues with the functioning of kbin.social (kbin.social)

The main issues with the improper functioning of the instance have been resolved, but it led to additional complications. Currently, using the instance should be quite comfortable, but I will continue to work intensively on a comprehensive solution for the next few days. Therefore, occasional interruptions or errors may still...

Thanks for your hard work, Ernest!

Is there a maximum size for Kbin thumbnails to federate from other instances? (kbin.social)

Posting pictures from Lemmy.world since I still have trouble uploading on Kbin, but sometimes the pictures don't appear as a thumbnail on Kbin regardless of how long I wait for it to federate. Clicking on it still opens the direct image link, but there's no thumbnail when scrolling past in the feed. Is there a max image size or...

Definitely have been keeping under 11 mb. Most of the ones I've had problems with are under 2 mb.

A 'hide downvotes from blocked users' might be a good function. Won't solve the problem of reducing visibility of posts, but if you're bugged by it, it would be a help.

To those genuinely interested in moderating (kbin.social)

@Ernest has pushed an update which allows users to request ownership/moderation of abandoned magazines. Ghost/abandoned magazines were fairly prevalent after the initial wave of hype due to users either squatting magazine names or becoming inactive for other reasons. Now is your chance to get involved, if you were waiting to do...

There's a 'jailbait' mag there that should just be deleted.

If memory serves the option is at the very bottom under the first page of the magazine panel.

Hm. The ones I deleted are removed from my profile.

Request: Remove ability to 'boost' your own comments and threads (kbin.social)

The ability to 'boost' your own comments/threads has been used by a very small number of users in a way that seriously degrades conversation on the platform. These users constantly move their own contributions to the top of the conversation without regard to their value. If allowed to continue it will likely become standard for...

Boosting threads is useful in that it helps shift a post from 'new' (which most people don't check) to 'hot' (which is the default feed for most people). Posts from small communities often die with 0 upvotes and 0 downvotes without that.

Just did a little unscientific test. Made a post in a community that usually gets 20+ upvotes within an hour. No self-boost puts it at 1 upvote after an hour.

On Reddit, blocked users can see but can't respond to posters that have blocked them.

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.

"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

It makes me upset when people forget what it means to be an American.

I haven't been able to post using Kbin for a bit due to a bug, but I can answer the reverse - posts on Lemmy generally show up on Kbin within a minute.

PugJesus,
@PugJesus@kbin.social avatar

Tried that already. Unfortunately, didn't work out.

PugJesus,
@PugJesus@kbin.social avatar

Aw, why thanks!

'Add picture' is the one that's denied to me, I can still post links. But I mostly post pictures and I hate going through the hassle of uploading to a third party site first, so I just use my Lemmy.world or DBZ alts for now. Been going on for two weeks or so, figure it might get cleared up after Kbin's upcoming update.

PugJesus,
@PugJesus@kbin.social avatar

I haven't seen Lemmygrad brigade or engage in the same 4chan trolling shittery. I've seen their genocide denial, though. They're both bad, but Hexbear, as far as I've seen, is much more disruptive.

PugJesus,
@PugJesus@kbin.social avatar

I can't post but I can comment. It keeps giving me the error page. Other people seem to still be able to post on Kbin - anyone have any insight into this problem?
