One useful function for AI would be to watch YouTube videos and extract any useful information into concise paragraphs. I am looking to be informed, not entertained.
I am saying I am not watching the video. I would prefer a tight paragraph or two about whatever the videographer thinks are the extraordinary circumstances.
I know what you are saying, and I fully support you in your mission to consume content faster, it’s just got nothing to do with the topic of this thread.
Not sure if you’re mostly joking but TT has tons of long-form content as well. It’s one of the main reasons I don’t use it - all my recommendations are super interesting 7+ min videos (I think I get too anxious to open the app knowing it’s going to open up to some super in-depth breakdown on a very specific topic. It’s insane how good their algorithm is. It practically never misses
Thank you, I’m so glad we have employers telling us the reason why they are not hiring is because they hate zoomers even though they also know zoomers will be an important market to sell their commodities to, which they can’t buy without a job.
Consider the motivations of one internet commenter to lie, then weigh that against the motivations of an entire economic system predicated on finding excuses to underpay your labor force.
Thank goodness we have people willing to organically repeat what companies say with zero analysis, we don’t get enough of that in every major media outlet
Probably, yeah, its a survey with no stakes asking people to give unverified confirmation of biases and stereotypes that they likely want to support and proliferate.
You mean, beside the fact that I read almost this exact same survey a decade ago, saying almost the exact same thing about millenials? A thing proven to be untrue by the simple passage of time?
Or beside the long history going back to literal documents from the roman empire of older people calling the younger generation lazy, incompetent, and unfit to fill the shoes of the current “of age” generation? Despite this trend being wrong each and every time?
Or beside the fact that the survey has literally no way to back up its data as more than nonsense hearsay, and trusting it at all is inherently questionable?
Yeah man, Im the one with biases. Surely. No other explanation.
It’s impossible to create a survey that transmits people’s actual thoughts directly to you. Every single survey, ever, has flaws and biases. The game is figuring out the bias, how significant it is, and if you can get anything useful out of the results.
I set up a firefox shortcut for my instance with keyword “r” so that if I type “r+enter” I get startrek.website. Putting that unwanted muscle memory to good use.
Man, this is one I am on the way out of. Late, I know. But I genuinely keep up with friends and family there, also facebook marketplace has taken over the game.
YouTube is the only platform that I don’t think I’ll be able to quit any time soon. Hosting video on that kind of scale requires insane amounts of capitol, and P2P isn’t reliable enough, and I say this as someone who has streamed torrents before and has tried out PeerTube.
Also even if there was an alternative, having an alternative for creator monitization is even more difficult. LBRY and D-Tube tried to do it with cryptocurrency, but both of those projects seem to have fizzled out (and I think one is flooded with fascists nowadays).
If it’s just watching there’s plenty of alternatives. Newpipe and YMusic on Android are pretty awesome. Also there’s Freetube on desktop and Invidious.
Tbf under quitting i understand not interacting with the platform anymore in any way. Just using a different app for that platform isnt really quitting. I still use reddit with a modded 3rd party app so it still works since i never really got into lemmy or kbin (i'm here after months of not opening it just to look what changed) so while i dont use the official way of accessing it i cannot say i quit
So all people I reply to and see here are like one big village, minus alts and nsfw accounts. It’s not bad. For once, I started to recognize persons behind a half of quality risa posts, like I did with niche reddit subs before. That’s what I want from a community, too see it tight-knit and filled with dedicated posters. It feels healthy and encourages to participate.
Yeah, they borrowed a lot from Trek lore, but thankfully they seem to have left the “badmiral” trope in the cutting room with the transporters. Both of which I appreciate they omitted.
The first time I watched through The Orville, every time one of the admirals was on screen, I was like, “What’s your angle?” and just generally distrustful. Even Victor Garber, you might ask? Especially Victor Garber.
Basically Disney is keeping a lot of the same creatives behind the original Daredevil, but intend to use season 1 pay rates because they tacked, ‘Born Again’ on to the title.
Pretty gross penny pinching from one of the wealthiest media corporations in the world.
Yeah, look at any of the Disney channel series, they all change the name slightly to reset the season and avoid union required pay increases. One example: The Suite Life… which was split into 2-3 season series.
Reinforcing stereotypes they believe are true despite lack of evidence.
Like how these same people swore up and down that millenials were lazy, greedy, worthless members of society not 10 years prior. Wasnt true then, isnt true now, but I spent my working years getting an earful of “examples” of why millenials were awful workers.
That doesn’t mean 1-in-5 bring parents. It means 1-in-5 interviewers have seen someone bring in a parent. If an interviewer has 500 interviews and 1 brings in a parent, that interviewer is one of the five who has seen a parent at an interview. Even though it was only 1 in 500 interviews for them, they’re still 1-in-5 interviewers.
Hell, it could even be the same fucking parent at every interview, if it’s a small enough industry. Maybe that same college grad applied to all of the local jobs in the industry (because of course they did; it’s what they studied for) and so all the interviewers in that part of the industry have seen a parent at an interview. It’s still only the 1 parent, but all of the interviewers in the area have seen them, so they all report that they’ve seen a recent college grad bring a parent.
Theoretically some kind of communist but it’s mostly just all window dressing for whatever lets me act out my decades long grudge against conservatism at large. The fact that I hate their asses and want to spend the rest of my life lashing out at them is more where my commitments lie more so than any specific school of thought
