Better to skip the first season than not watch at all.
I am someone who noped out of the show mid season one during its original broadcast run, despite being really psyched by the pilot, and fortunately gave it a second chance for season two when Boxleitner was brought in.
There are problems with Season 1, Season 2 has a better hook and because they replaced the commander and are doing a bunch of catch up work, there’s no harm starting there then circling back.
Season 1 is a slow burn and there are a lot of filler episodes that don’t go anywhere (looking at you Infection, Deathwalker, Believers, TKO).
That being said, the must watch season 1 episodes:
I’m in the minority who believes Fox was right to start Firefly with the Train Robbery, so what do I know? :) (I know my wife fell asleep 1/2 way through the original pilot.)
I think watching season 1 later isn’t a bad idea at all. It feels like you’re in on what’s being set up, and knowing what’s coming makes the sloggy episodes tolerable. I watched the show in the order 2 3 1 4 5 on the advice of a friend, and I’m really glad I didn’t start with season 1. I would have quit before the end of the season and missed out on what’s now my favorite show of all time.

How do I make “minor separations”, where you have multiple paragraphs, then a paragraph with more white-space between it, but not like a header or a line. It’s related enough that I want it connect, but separate enough that I want some separation

Okay. For the “auto-title”, let me guess, it generates a title, unless you put something in the title part of the post?

Basically, the “minor separator” is a paragraph that has nothing in it, but still takes up space. Like the space of 2 enters, not one.

If the focus of what you’re discussing is specifically Star Trek, the general c/StarTrek community would be fine. If you’re looking to get serious and in-depth with it, c/DaystromInstitute would also work.
If the primary focus is on the real world and the Trek connection is more tangential (examples: “cell phones were inspired by communicators” or “this new medical device is kind of like a tricorder”), it’s probably more appropriate for Quark’s. But there are some edge cases in there, and we’re unlikely to be fussy if something ends up in c/StarTrek instead.

You can find the moderators for each community in that community’s sidebar - just head to their profile and message them. This would be the process for both questions about community-specific rules, and appeals of moderator actions.

Absolutely. I have probably spent hundreds of hours on Sins of a Solar Empire, and though this isn’t that, it is similar enough with a Star Trek coat. I’m sure I will get hundreds of hours out of this one as well!
I feel like Sins would be a perfect game to do a BSG based 4x game. With all the build fighters or bombers squadron decisions, or the reliance on capital ships.
If you’ve ever played a 4x game before, it’s not too hard to pick up. Stellaris is a fantastic game, and I’ve sunk quite a few hours into it.
With that said, sometimes they drop the ball on DLCs, and the late game gets bogged down/boring, so it’s worth waiting for player reviews to come back before getting it.
Cool! Didn’t know about it until now. I’m a big Stellaris nerd so this is interesting to me. But I’ll usually wait until a game has proven itself before getting into it.
I saw a video about it yesterday - I think just because my youtube algorithm knows I like star trek. It looks fun! And it’s not super expensive either.
