I'm calling it now.

The sheer number of #Zuckerberg (and others) #quislings in the #Fediverse is going to kill it. Inside of five years #independent, #distributed #SocialMedia will be dead for all practical purposes, and the people holding the daggers covered in its blood will be those who were inside it.

#Facebook's "#Threads" was a test of the Fediverse and the Fediverse has failed with stunning rapidity. Inside of five years we'll be back to #corporatist #AntisocialMedia

Agree, we have been calling to block bad actors such as big tech for a long time. Also have been pushing for P2P content delivery over I2P so operating a small instance of 500 people is even viable.

Mostly seems to go nowhere. This has been the long game of Mastodon the whole time we think. Its an Embrace, Extend, Extinguish op dressed in fluffy, elephantine clothes.

Not that is matters but is #threatds even #AGPLv3? @fsf ? We tried finding a license once, admittedly didn't look hard.
