Stop platform hate, create or collaborate

The isn't perfect, it's the best solution we have

You can make a difference, simply by participating in a project/platform and suggesting ideas or reporting bugs

You don't need to know how to code to make this place better, but if you want to make a bigger impact, it does help

We need to stop shitting on fedi platforms like Mastodon and see the fediverse as the competitor to centralized social platforms

Don't get me wrong, I love Mastodon and everything it's done for the fediverse

That being said, I don't want Loops to become the only short form video platform, or the only well known one

I'm working with @stux on his own short vid platform called #GoldFish and PeerTube to enable seamless interop

We're stronger and better together

There is no reason NOT to work with "competitors" because when you have the right mindset and goals:

You build for the people, and listen wisely.

Pixelfed Collections [v3]

  • remove (only-public) and (only-self) constraints - allow items to be anything, even a url

  • make collections followable (w/ #activityPub)

  • add "Collect" button to add items to one of your collections

  • public "collections directory" w/ search

The refreshed Collections feature will be quite similar to #pinterest 😉

I noticed the #artemis app for Kbin no longer works and after some digging it seems like the developer burned out

It's unfortunate to see, and is a reminder that we can't take the #fediverse and our developers for granted!

@dansup sad to hear. One of the reasons we decided to ask people to subscribe for Murmel upfront. While we are all for freedom of the web, it’s unrealistic to expect that anything running on a single person or a small-team’s voluntary effort will survive over the long-term. Life happens.

I remember when the #fediverse didn't take @pixelfed seriously and constantly made jokes about it using PHP, or when I missed self-imposed deadlines

I had to prove myself, constantly, and I admit I almost gave up a few times

All that negativity and hate, I used that as motivation to be better, not just for me, but for other devs

Maybe those haters were busy building fediverse tools like https://fedidb.org or https://fediverse.info

Who knows, anyways I'm still here, queer, and building!
