~~How does the @random magazine work?~~

Today I got slightly confused when a post in my meta community on my single user instance got a reply. As you can see, it was explained to me that they arrived there via kbin’s random magazine.

I’m wondering how that works, as I understand it, as soon as a user from server A subscribes to a community on server B, that server A now gets all updates from posts in B’s community.

Does that mean that kbin is essentially subscribing to every community there is with an invisible bot user? Or is this some other mechanism?

Oh wow, I didn’t even think to check that. I guess that’s through one of those bots that make you follow everyone.

Oh wow, the OP edited the title to include strikeout, which kbin doesn't seem to process markdown on title.
