I tried a few of the federated magazine links they listed, but I can’t resolve them in Lemmy. I know Lemmy doesn’t do person follows (yet?), so if that’s how they’re presented, that makes sense.

Are they working in Mastodon ?

That’s what I’ve noticed. At one point, I recall being able to at least search for a Mastodon user from Lemmy and have them come up in search results (no posts and couldn’t follow). I just spot checked that, and it doesn’t seem to do that anymore. I know little about Mastodon so can’t even speculate which side the problem may be on.

One day I figure it’ll be a two way street.

Interesting. Could be they’ve never interacted with Lemmy then. I just tried to pull up George Takei’s Mastodon account from Lemmy, and no results. (@georgetakei). I vaguely recall searching for another user in the past (months ago), and they did come up in search. Unless I’m just doing it wrong (always a possibility).

It’s not really ideal, but I’m not sure if it can be improved considering the radically different structure of each platform.

Yeah. I don’t know what changes would need to be made to Lemmy to support following users. There is a person_follow table in the DB, though, so maybe the framework is there but incomplete?

I always wondered why spacecraft couldn’t be wrapped in magnetic coils (with the pressurized volume like the center of a solenoid) to duplicate the effects of Earth’s magnetic field. Looks like it is possible but was not practical until recently.

Yeah, they borrowed a lot from Trek lore, but thankfully they seem to have left the “badmiral” trope in the cutting room with the transporters. Both of which I appreciate they omitted.

The first time I watched through The Orville, every time one of the admirals was on screen, I was like, “What’s your angle?” and just generally distrustful. Even Victor Garber, you might ask? Especially Victor Garber.

Getting a lot of blank pictures on Lemmy-UI (SOLVEDish-look at newest comment) (loot.buckodr.ink)

I’m seeing a lot of blank images when looking at posts from startrek.website through Lemmy-UI, but when I look through Photon/Sync the images are there. It seems to only affect images uploaded directly to startrek.website instead of images uploaded to a separate website. Is there something I can do to fix this on my instance?...

If you’re using Ublock Origin, disable that for your home lemmy instance.

I have a custom rule you can add to prevent that from happening (in lieu of disabling UBO), but it’s on my other computer. I can update post with that later.

I love how every instance that offers Mlmym as an option, including mine, runs it under the old. subdomain. xD
