Last time I checked, kbin/mbin only supports intra-instance messaging. I.e., you ( sender@fedia.io ) can message receiver@fedia.io , but not receiver@kbin.social or receiver@lemmy.world

Given this is a software-the-instance-is-running request rather than an instance request as such, you might be better off posting on the (centralized 😅) mbin repo or perhaps asking about it on the mbin Matrix if they accept that kind of thing there.

Sorry to contribute to the ruination of your server-consolidation dreams 😢

I can give you a quick yell on infosec.exchange the next time I notice it!

Thanks for going to so much trouble on your fedi services - it's nice to be home! ^_^

Thanks Jerry!

I've found that when submitting a new image ("photo") anything, instead of the expected behaviour of loading that magazine afterwards, I get a blank white page instead (with the URL of submitting a photo to that magazine).

Edit: seems to be applying to other submission types as well.

Interestingly the first time I tried to vote on your comment it redirected me to a 500 error page. When I came back it reports the upvote was successful though, which is interesting!

I noticed the same behaviour from your comment in one of the previous fedia-meta threads https://fedia.io/m/fedia/t/349909/-/comment/2070736

I guess the instance personally hates you :'D

I seem to be having trouble federating out to programming.dev :(

Hah, I hadn't considered that it might be a problem on the other end, thanks for taking a look!

This isn't a new problem so I imagine it's either already on your radar from one of the much older threads or actually just a kbin/mbin issue and not a fedia-specific issue (I haven't thoroughly checked the kbin issue tracker). In any case: submissions are wonky and either don't reliably sort in queues (other than new) correctly and/or don't reliably federate until some kind of additional action is taken on the thread. For example, leaving a comment or casting a vote (like upvoting my own submission and then retracting the vote).

Example:

Degraded Fedia performance? (fedia.io)

On a couple of different devices -- each using an independent internet connection -- I've been having unusually poor performance on Fedia for at least the past several hours, with very long load times (sometimes timing out individual assets), and poor responsiveness on actions like submit/reply etc, ironically including when...

Ended up plagued with this again for a few days, and figured it was server-side issues.. but eventually thought "why not check in another browser", so I did, and the problem was gone.

I don't know what the problem was and if it's due to kbin, the swap to mbin, is fedia-specific, or browser-specific, or some-action-that-I-took-specific, but clearing all the cookies and data in my browser for fedia.io has put things back to sane. If you read this and are having similar issues, consider trying as much (remember doing this will log you out).

I know I'm rather late on the response here, but my understanding is that each instance takes some time to discover the existence of a mag/community on another instance, particularly as it only checks the first time somebody searches for it (on that instance). I have unfortunately noticed that Fedia is often very slow for this. It took a week or two to pick up a small visual novels community I looked at a couple months back, and it still hasn't picked up @RimWorldPorn_General (SFW), which I searched for 3+ weeks ago.

Whether this is a Fedia-specific issue, a kbin issue, or something else I'm not sure. You might be able to get more input from asking on one of the larger fediverse-focused subs like @fediverse or @fediverse .

Just re: Liberapay's fees, 2.9% is their recorded average when using Stripe and 4.9% the average when using PayPal. YMMV based on e.g. donation size (where a small donation will have a higher % fee due to the processing fees being a combination of flat and %), currency / country, etc.

It's still almost always the lowest-fee option when available, but just wanted to be clear that you can't just jump in and expect to see ~3% regardless of circumstance.
